The Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator is designed to enable Learners to attain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to provide Basic Life Support (BLS) and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely. As this is a half day qualification, ideally you will already hold a first aid qualification. Qualification Summary The Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator qualification outlines a range of knowledge and practical skills in providing basic life support (BLS) and using an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely. Learners will practise assessing and managing a casualty who needs BLS and the safe use of an AED. Who Should Take This Qualification? You should take this qualification if you have a specific interest or responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, in being able to provide BLS when dealing with an emergency situation which may involve using an AED. Prerequisites There are no prerequisites for this course. You will be required to complete practical activities & assessments during the Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator. Learners do not need good literacy skills to complete the course or qualification, but there will be a multiple choice paper at the end of the course. Should anyone experience difficulties with this style of assessment this can be completed verbally in certain circumstances. Please contact us for further details. What Will I Learn? During the Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator you will complete one unit. This will teach you to deal with emergency situations that may require basic life support (such as completing CPR) and how to safely and correctly use an AED. Qualification Structure The Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator has one unit that learners are required to complete in order to achieve the qualification.
